a toy for all ages January 6, 2009 We got this for our son's birthday and I'm not sure who plays with it more - my 8 y.o. or my husband. To be truthful, I find myself pressing buttons on it too. This toy is a lot of fun to play with no matter what your age and it has remained a favorite for a couple of months now.
For the parents FYI: (1) there is a page of stickers that take a while to figure out but not that difficult. Just know that they are super sticky so there is little room for error. (2) The landing gear does NOT stay on so be prepared with Gorilla glue or just leave them off.
This set is huge and is filled with bells and whistles. There are buttons that provide weapon sounds, voiced passages from the first movie (I believe) and lights. My sons love to turn the lights off and see the blue rear lights, head lights and cockpit flash. There are compartments that hold an astonishing amount of action figures. The medic area attachment has long been lost but everything else has remained intact. There is even a small aircraft that fits neatly into a hidden port. It also comes with it's owner Hans Solo and his sidekick Chewie.
Unfortunately, I paid top dollar for this toy but I cannot complain since my boys (and husband) love it. At the price listed ($140) it is a bargain when factoring in the hours of play and the utter delight when first opened.
MARCO January 6, 2009 MY BOY IS VERY HAPPY WITH HIS NEW STAR WARS ROCKET SHIP. HE LOVE TO PLAY WITH THIS WONDERFUL TOY
millennium falcon January 6, 2009 My son loves it, and has enjoyed each part and sound. I, however, think it's a little too large. The most annoying part is that the legs do NOT stay on. So I spend more time helping him put them back on so he can play with it. I'm sure it will be one of his favorite toys to play with for a long time though.
Don't listen to the complaining reviews, this i sthe greatest Star Wars toy ever made! January 6, 2009 My wife got me this for Christmas and it is the greatest toy I ever received. A lot of folks are complaining about the landing gear being flimsy but the thing is this: they stay on just fine if the Falcon is sitting there as a playset. They do come off easily as they will just pull right out but the reason is so that you can easily get the ship ready for flight. As for the plastic issue, I honestly don't know what they mean. The only "soft" plastic are the 2 removeable hatches. By soft I mean they flex slightly, but do NOT bend out of shape as they are actually quite hard. The rest of the falcon is hard platic. To listen to reviews the whole falcon will twist and bend as you hold it which just is not the case at all. It does not feel like slightly hard halloween mask material. My cargo hatches are hard platic and sit flush with the rest of the floor, you can't even tell they are hatches and not solid floor except for the little tab to pull them up. They do not warp in the middle. As for the cockpit size it is "slightly" larger than it should be but you won't notice it unless you are a huge fan. I, myself, kept looking at it and saying to myself "Is that bigger than it should be?" It was hard to tell it was out of proportion but that is offset as I can fit 4 seated figures in there. It is really a masterpiece and I don't think is really for children that don't care for their toys. It is too heavy to fly around for sure except for me as I am 34 and stronger than most children. Never the less it is so sweet as it is of great scale (by my estimation it is about 1/3 smaller than it would be if it were to scale). The ligts and sound are super! Especially the ramp. I wasn't expecting such coolness!
Amazing ! January 2, 2009 Ok, read all the reviews. I was born before the original star wars movies and had all the original figures. You know those. No real action to them. Arms and legs moved, that's it. Now a days, these figures are meant to be moved around, posed etc. No they are not the greatest designs, and my son won't be able to pass his down the way I did mine, however. This ship is Awesome ! Amazon made this soooo affordable. I paid only $104 with free shipping. What a deal. No it's not completely to scale. Something like that would be twice the size. But the effects, sounds, and the overall construction isn't that bad. It is difficult to pick up and try to fly around but it is manageable. Yes the landing gear falls off. So what. I'm sure someone will come up with a cool fix that will work fine. My son loves this ship, plays hard with it, and hasn't broken anything yet. If you can pick this up for around $100 then it's worth it. It's brining back so many memories that I'm now hooked on the movies again.
