Product Description Imagine Baby's delight when her picture book comes to life with words and music, all with a simple touch of the finger. The innovative LittleTouch LeapPad by LeapFrog introduces the littlest ones to the joy of reading. Tear-resistant books feature three developmental settings that keep your child engaged and continue to stimulate your child's development. Babies will love the "Music and Soundscapes" setting, which is designed to stimulate early brain development. Toddlers respond to "Word Play," short-descriptive phrases that introduce word-object associations and build early language skills. The "Laugh and Learn" setting, created for preschoolers, features fun-filled rhymes and early learning interactions that help develop preschool readiness. Other features include volume control, carry handle, soft lap cushioning, and more. Includes one book and two activity cards. Look for additional LittleTouch books, sold separately. Requires 4 "AA" batteries (not included).
Editorial Review With a little help from a bigger friend (parent, guardian
), young children can launch into the world of learning via interactive books. Little Touch LeapPad is designed for tots 6 to 36 months, with three distinct levels of activities and stories: musical rhythms and sounds; short descriptive phrases; and rhymes and early learning. Stories or activity cards snap into the book frame, along with a story cartridge. Grownups will need to help little ones activate the book pages by touching the "Go" button every time a page is turned, as well as showing young "readers" how to touch pictures to make them come to life with developmentally appropriate narration and learning activities. A comfy cushion is attached to the LeapPad platform for cozy shared reading time. Four AA batteries required (not included). --Emilie Coulter

Not for a one-year old! August 30, 2008 My one-year old is just not interested in this toy at all! I can't imagine a 6-month old being interested in this either, despite the description. I would not purchase again or recommend. I found a little play laptop at Target for $20, which allows my baby to bang on the keyboard, play with the mouse, it makes noises...that was a much better toy for her.
Disappointed March 5, 2008 I love the idea of this learning system. But it definitely needs some improvement. My son is not at all interested in it. The age range is definitely off. I will sit with my son and read to him, and he likes the music. He is not interested in the buttons and games. I wish it worked out better, b/c it has a lot of potential. My son is only a year now, hopefully he will show more interest in it in the future.
My daughter loved it. January 10, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My daughter loves this toy. She calls it her computer game. Its easy to use and no matter where she touches something happens(different sounds and music). That makes her a big girl because she doesn't need my help to play.
Sturdy books! January 2, 2008 When we first opened the package and saw that the pages of the book that came with the leapfrog system was made of 'paper', we were quite concerned. Our children are both one year old and using all the muscle they have.....however, they have not yet been able to tear any pages or permanently damage the book in any way (yet). We're quite happy with the purchase.
A little disapointed. December 31, 2007 I bought this toy for my 10 month old, she was not as interested as I thought she would be. I was disapointed in the books, I thought the pages should have been plastic instead of paper. I would probably not recommend this toy.
