10 Year Old Boy December 31, 2007 Battery worked great. Toy is a little to fast and aggressive for indoor play with my 10 year old boy.
Shell Shocker February 5, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As the other reviewers have stated, what a crock regarding the need to purchase a battery and charger separate from the toy. My boy opened the box on Christmas afternoon and shredded the box and styrofoam getting at the prized toy. He came to me and wanted me to make it work. Since he had been in another room, I was getting frustrated with him wanting to know where the rest of stuff was (the specialized battery and charger). He kept saying that was all in box. Upon piecing the jigsaw puzzled box of cardboard back together I saw in a small highlighted caption on the lower corner of the box (Battery and Charger sold separately.) Over the past couple of weeks we have looked at different stores for the battery/charger. At first we thought, no problem, but now it has become apparent that this $60.00 toy might be best used as an anchor. The Toys R Us sales representative we talked to this weekend said they had 85 Shockers at another location, but no battery/chargers shown at any of their local stores. We are in the DFW area mind you. He said to look on-line, but "good luck" was his final parting shot. I am trying to remain calm about my new anchor, but I do not have a boat.
Complete rip-off! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! December 30, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought the Shell Shocker for my nephew's birthday. To my complete surprise, a unique, specialized battery which was NOT included with the toy was needed. The box came wrapped so there was no way of knowing that this battery was needed. Now it's going to take 3 days at least and extra cost to get the darn battery. I ask, why is Mattel not including the battery with the toy? Is it to "reduce" the cost of the toy? This is an absurd and deceiving tactic, the total cost of ownership of this toy is toy+battery, and the battery is almost as expensive as the toy!!!! This is a complete rip-off, and the only thing Mattel has accomplished is to make me swear never EVER to buy anything from them. Congrats Mattel.
Flexpak Dies Too Quick! April 14, 2006 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
After charging and using the flexpak in the shell shocker a few times, we could not recharge it. Common problem in the past, I thought by now it would be fixed, guess not. A real bummer.
Battery pack for shellshocker February 1, 2006 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
We love the shell shocker. The battery pack doesn't last as long as we expected and it is difficult to tell when it is recharged. Also it is a little difficult to remove or replace.
