Discovery & National Geographic July 14, 2008 9 out of 12 found this review helpful
I have purchased several Discovery/National Geographic products. I think they come off the same factory line just depends on the box. Both are low quality and usually disappointing. The box pictures look great but features are usually limited and low quality. I say this about products I have purchased. I would say unless it is really on sale don't bother and because of this i think they make lousy gifts. The potential of their toys are great but usually not.
A big disappointment November 29, 2007 38 out of 38 found this review helpful
My 6 year old is really into science and especially learning about the stars and planets. I bought this item for his birthday and he was extrememly excited until we set it up. First off, you have to sit there and manually turn the knob to make the stars move. Also, the stars do not project clearly onto the ceiling and or walls. We tried everything from setting it on books, tables, the floor and what ever else we could find to get a clear view but nothing worked. We even sat in the closet and still the quality of the stars were terrible. It is made of cheap plastic so the durability of it was aweful. All I can say is that for Discovery, this learning toy is a huge disappointment and we ended up throwing it away. I will say the the CD that comes with it was the best thing in there! Too bad nothing else worked. Don't waste your money.
