5 stars for occupying an autistic/adhd 12 yr old for many hours January 6, 2009 I purchased this as a gift for a friend's son who loves dinosaurs. I have been told that he is so involved with constructing the thing that he is not even eating his meals. He is assembling it only by looking at the photo - he cannot read instructions. I was very pleased that it is occupying and challenging him.

I bought this for my 13 year old son for Christmas and he absolutely loves it. He has been working at it in bits and pieces, and has not had any problems getting the pieces to fit correctly or understand the directions. He works on it for about a half hour or so before he goes to bed, for about 3 nights and has the head and all of the body complete. It is great to keep his hands busy while he is relaxing for bedtime. He has never had a set like this before, but has done K'nex and legos. If I find another set made by Struxx, I will will def buy another.
For all adults and engineers that responded....sometimes you need to think like a child and not an adult. As adults we tend to over think things.....this is part imaginaton, part directions.
A lot of fun. December 31, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This toy was a lot of fun to build and it was not too complicated for younger kids.
A little complex, but December 31, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We bought these for our boys ages 6-9 and they all really like them. The pieces snap together easily. The instructions are (mostly)clear and direct. Good quality. The boys needed some help at the more complex assembly points on the T-Rex, but they could otherwise put it together themselves. They keep talking about taking it apart to make their own new design, but that hasn't happened yet. It seems like it would be easy to create something new with how versatile the pieces are. Think K'nex only bigger and with ball and socket joints instead of fixed connectors.
as complex to build as a piece of ikea furniture December 29, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
you have the feeling that a building toy is ill-designed if it is as complex/tedious as a piece of ikea furniture to be put together.
In fact, the experience is even worse. the geometry isn't precise, error-prone instructions, difficult to re-assemble.
either i am retarded (too old for this kind of toy, though I am quite capable of handling my LEGO sets) or the kids who can put it together is a genius.
