More Run Time Please March 21, 2007 For the money, this toy does a pretty good job. My main concern is the length of flight time is too short. Generally on a full charge, it runs about 2 minutes. As the battery runs down, the "trim" must be constanly adjusted. Other than that, after learning to "adjust" the pitch of the rotor blades as stated in the instructions, it will fly straight when the controls are neutral. It's definitely an "indoor" toy as the slighted air movement will take control, even the draft from forced air heating/cooling. Yes the rotor blades won't take much abuse so for young children, probably not the best choice.
OK, but slightly disappointing March 8, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was a gift for two girls, 8 and 10, and their family. They opened the box with great expectations, and we were all dismayed to see that the "helicopter" was not a nice model but was a chunk of spray-painted styrofoam. Hmmm. It does fly reasonably well, though. I have not seen other inexpensive RC copters so I can't compare, so maybe it flies better, but it seemed cheaply made and is not particularly attractive.
Very little control February 21, 2007 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is one of the many RC products I've broken in the first hour of use, If i didn't have glue tape and patients this would have been in the trash can long ago.
The unit will flip and crash with very little wind.
Very lightweight January 28, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I realize this helicopter has to be lightweight in order to fly, and I'm sure if we were more practiced that is what it would have done. Unfortunately, my eleven-year-old son crashed it and the blades broke immediately. We had one very sad little boy on Christmas morning. I highly recommend purchasing (many) replacement blades before giving as a gift.
Has provided hours of fun for the mechanically inclined January 18, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
On it's second flight, I crashed this baby quite hard, and it didn't seem to be working. It would only making a clicking sound and spun itself around on the ground, no longer lifting off. What I did was remove the foam body so that I could get a better look at the gear system inside. All that was required was an adjustment of the gears on the rotor shaft down about a milimeter as the problem proved to be that the motor gears were knocked out of alignment with the rotor gears. This design is ingenious in its simplicity, and its resulting stability in flight. My 6 year old Neice has flown in succesfully. I have been flying and crashing it since buying it (about 2 months) and it has only required said adjustment a handful of times. I have however had to change the rotors out since as I broke the original set (luckily this model come with the option of buying extra rotors). I am fascinated by the toy and as a result bought a flight simulator for true RC Helicopters as it has spurred on more interest in aircraft in general. Definitely buy an extra set of rotors, and don't think that any toy helicopter can run indefinitely without any user intervention.
