Rumors are spreading that a hive of Marro predators is hidden deep within the jungle. Heroes unite to stop them from contaminating the world. The object of Heroscape is to create your own battlefield, choose your army, and war against your opponent for the land of Valhalla. Players alternate turns until the game ends. On your turn, you'll complete three actions, using dice and army cards. Strategy comes into play as you choose the best possible army card, which depends on the location of your figures and your victory objective. Kids can use one of the nine provided games or create their own. Battle Test Following the success of the original, Heroscape Master Set Two is likely to please any child into strategic gaming. Nine game scenarios are provided and kids can even create their own game. All intricately detailed and nicely painted, the miniature monsters have unique powers and background stories. Each game scenario encourages imagination and enhances strategic thinking. However, game play and setup is relatively complex and perhaps better suited for older or advanced children. It also comes with many small pieces, which could be hazardous to toddlers or infants. Despite these minor setbacks, Heroscape Master Set Two is as enjoyable as its predecessor.
The Heroscape Master Set 2 can be combined with expansion packs for an even larger playing field. |

Good Strategy Game August 1, 2008 My 9 year old and I have barely put heroscape back into the box since we got it a month ago. It teaches good strategy in a fun setting. It is very malleable to set up in a variety of senarios, many come with the game. Although I have not gotten any expansions yet, there seems to be a plethora of them, allowing even more variablity.
Great as an expansion, Good by itself. June 19, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This Master Set, Swarms of Marro, is a great way to expand on the original Master Set, Rise of the Valkyrie. I purchased Swarms of Marro recently and was disappointed by it's lack of water and non swamp tiles. It also lacks many characters who are not part of the Zombie-like Marro. The five heroes are extremely powerful and the Marro Hive adds a level of complexion to any battle.
Overall, I would say that this game is fun for people of all ages and half the fun (and time) is the building of the battle field. Throw that in with Elves, Dragons, and Robots, and you have an awesome game
Just fantastic June 5, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Prepare to get addicted. I purchased this set a few days ago, and have already begun to grow my original set through some of the many expansions available. This game is simply addicting and fun. My 7 and 8 year old love it, and with a little guidance, can easily adapt to the "advanced" rules. Putting it together is a blast, and making up your own scenarios is addicting and only limited by your imagination. Heroscape is simply a fantastic game, and worth every penny. A word of caution. If your on the fence, buy it now. They are becoming harder and harder to find, and previous sets are sky rocketing in price. Don't hesitate, its fun, challenging, addicting and has endless potential. This is simply a great family game.
The best board game I have ever played. April 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Wow! I just got this a few months ago and it beats Monopoly! Heroscape is a game of skill, smarts, and imagination, the three things that create a great product. There are 35 painted 3D hard plastic peices that look as if they are hand painted. Some are big, some are small, some are scary, some are valiant, but all are awesome! I would very very very highly recommend this game to any gender and any age. Heroscape is AWESOME!!!
Young lads off computer games March 28, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is the second Heroscape Master set that my son has and he's really getting into it. Two of his friends had one taste of the game and figures and have purchased a Master set each and expansions. They all enthuse about it (they are all aged about 11) - what greater commendation do you need! A by-product of their enjoyment is that they have left their computer games alone for a while. Instead they meet up, play the game, interact with each other, having to think of strategy and loving every minute of it. The miniatures alone are great, so much so that they have begun to collect them!
It's an easy game to pick up, with simple line of sight rules and easy dice throwing to learn. Height is an advantage, and knowing the unique abilities of your units a must if you want to win. Swarm of the Marro is good, but it does has less figure types than the original Master game. And there are duplicate sets on the Marro side which reduces the diversity that bit further. But all the rules are there so you can either start with this game, or buy Rise of the Valkyrie, or have them both. Rules are full of explanatory pictures that very nearly cover everything.
On the figures side, the Swarm looks great, as do the heroes (two of the 'goodies' are uprated versions of earlier ones in Valkyrie. If you combine this game with other expansions you can make up any sort of battles you want - for choosing your own army is one part of the fun of this game.
Swarm itself has some neat scenarios of its own that can roll over from one battle to another - though we've not played these yet. And remember, even the battlefield has to be built by yourself, either following the clear patterns in the rule book, or using your imagination. So it's creative just in setting up the 'board'. Add another set, and you can begin to have some intriguing if not massive battlegrounds.
I'd heartily recommend this. My two boys from 5 upwards love the figures. They are well painted, with unique abilities that fire the imagination and demand thought when using them. They don't break too easily, unless your brother leaves them on the floor and you tread on them! Only down side is that in the UK it's difficult to buy the expansions. Distribution could do with being much better. I bought Swarm in the States and brought it home - but we can't all do that.
Buy it for your children and watch them have hours of fun. A few tears as they lose their prize hero, and joy as they start building up their own unique army!
