Amazon.com Product Description Designed in conjunction with eight-time World Cup champion skateboarder Andy Macdonald, the Zon Mini junior skateboard continues Macdonald's tradition of creating competition-quality boards at entry-level prices. The board--in development for two years--was designed to Macdonald's competition specifications, with the goal of making a "true" skateboard easily accessible to entry-level skaters of a young age. Unlike the inexpensive "toy" skateboards most young first-time skaters purchase, the Zon Mini is extremely responsive to the rider, with professional-grade wheels that roll and grip smoothly. The Zon Mini is made of top-quality North American hard rock maple that's cold-fused using a high-impulse, water-resistant glue in proprietary AirLam presses. The wheels, meanwhile, are composed of high-rebound, hand-cast polyurethane for great roll and grip. Add in professional-quality, cast-aluminum skate bearings with carbon-steel kingpins and axles and high-rebound polyurethane bushings and you have a skateboard that rides beautifully and turns easy and smooth. The Max Zone Mini measures 31.5 by 7.625 inches (W x L) and weighs 6 pounds.

Great Value for the Money October 1, 2008 After buying a "bargain" skateboard at a sporting goods store as a first board for my son, I quickly realized that it was nothing but a piece of junk. The deck was OK, but the wheels were hard as rocks and no matter how I adjusted the trucks, the darn thing just wouldn't turn. I skated enough in my own youth to realize when I couldn't ride it either that it wasn't just him - it was the skateboard.
I did a little research and came across the Andy Mac deals on Amazon. My son has been riding this board for a year and a half now and he loves it. I admit that he's not particularly hard on it, as he's mostly just cruising and carving on it as opposed to doing tricks, but the deck, trucks and wheels are all holding up very well.
At less than twice the cost of the cheap bargain and department store boards (I was lucky enough to find it on sale at Amazon) I'm extremely happy with the purchase. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat, and may have to if my daughter gets the skating bug.
This product way passed my expectations. September 16, 2008 Even Thought it is specified for Junior, it's perfect for every age. This skateboard was a gift for my 6 years old son. He and I were tired of those skateboards that doesn't roll and turn the way they sould (Cartoon Style ones). It has only been 15 days since he's been using it and he's doing really great tricks. Tricks that would have never been possible without a skateboard with these characteristics. Watch out it is a very fast skateboard. Great product. AH. Caracas-Venezuela.
What a Bummer! August 25, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was supposed to be a better than average beginner skate board. Granted my daughter is a novice, but she can't ride this thing at all. It is very difficult to steer even for a heavy adult, and the particular board I have has a permanent right turn, so that you can't just push yourself straight down the sidewalk.
It just sits in our garage. I keep thinking I'll take it to a shop and have it adjusted or something, but in my opinion it should come ready to ride.
