In her dainty, pink knit pajamas with their tiny, satin ankle bows, this Huggums doll is a lovable baby who's just waiting to snuggle. Pink Check Huggums, introduced by Madame Alexander in 1996, is a soft-bodied play doll with a vinyl head. She wears a one-piece pajama made of soft, pink-and-white checkered cotton fabric. A rounded collar edged in white lace frames her adorable face with its innocent expression, bright pink lips, and rosy cheeks. Her round blue eyes open when she sits up and close at naptime when she's lying down. At 11 inches in height, she's the perfect size for a young child's first doll, and the Velcro closure on the front of her pajamas won't cause problems for little fingers just learning the finer points of clothing mechanics. Although she's a lightweight stuffed doll, her soft body is sculptured in such a way that she can easily pose in a sitting-up position. Whether given as a shower gift for an expectant mommy or a very special first-birthday gift, she's sure to be a favorite. --Julie Ubben

A Durable Heirloom Doll Your Kid Can Play With December 10, 2008
Over 30 years ago I got two Little Huggums dolls. Now my daughter, and sometimes my son, play with them A LOT. They are extremely durable dolls that last, literally, a lifetime or maybe two lifetimes.
What works about this doll? I love their smallish size. They are 12 inches tall which is a more manageable size than the 18 inch American Doll baby dolls. Little Huggums have soft bodies, so they really are huggable. They are easy to dress and undress because they have soft bodies. I bought extra clothes for my/my daughter's two Huggums from the Magic Cabin catalog. Sometimes I find 12 inch doll clothes at Target. The extra clothes enhance the fun of playing with these dolls. Huggums are soft but they can sit up on their own and participate in tea parties. Finally, these are really cute looking dolls.
They are an indoor toy because I would not recommend washing them in the washing machine. The squeeker in their bottoms will not work as well after washing. I spot clean them.
I highly recommend Little Huggums over any other doll, and I've played with many!!!

I had first bought this for my daughter 34 years ago for her first Christmas. It immediately became a much loved doll and continued over the years; was very appropriate for a one year old as she was that first Christmas. I was delighted two years ago to buy another for her daughter's first Christmas and her "Huggums" has been equally loved as much and continues to be so. I highly recommend this doll for a young child until they can handle a bigger baby doll.
The perfect birthday gift for a toddler! July 27, 2008
I got this doll for my granddaughter's second birthday and it was the perfect gift! My granddaughter loved it the instant she opened the box. She enjoys feeding it with one of those "magic" bottles and she cuddles with it while watching TV. She also loves to push it around in her doll stroller. I think the soft body is very inviting to a small child and the face on this doll is so precious you can't help but love it. I just wish Madame Alexander made doll clothes for this doll, but we found some 12" doll dresses from the Corolle doll company that work just fine, so I can't complain. Bottom line: if you're looking for a great first doll for your toddler, this is it!
A childhood friend returns July 21, 2008
I bought this doll for my girlfriend's daughter who was about 1 1/2 at the time. I love that this doll is still available since I've received three of these same dolls while growing up, and still have all of them. By all accounts from my girlfriend, her daughter still plays with her doll and loves to sleep with it. I've only been over to their house a couple of times since then, and the last time I saw the doll, she was stark naked and wanted to urge someone to please put some clothes on her, but I was happy to see the doll being put to use! :)
Sweetest First Baby Doll July 14, 2008
I purchased this doll for the first time 38 years ago for my first daughter, then two years later for my second daughter. Eight years ago I purchased it for my first granddaughter and this year for my second granddaughter. It is light and huggable. Simply just an old-fashioned bsby doll that a little one can carry around. My daughters still have theirs and they keep them in their girls' rooms to have when company comes over to play with them.
