Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
BABY Born is adorably lifelike - after you feed her or give her something to drink, she is ready for you to help her use her pretty purple potty.

BABY Born is just like a real baby - she drinks water from her bottle, eats her own special food, uses her potty or soils her diaper, squeals with delight and cries. You can give BABY Born a fun bath and move her arms and legs. She even closes her eyes when she has her magic pacifier.

Includes one 17" doll, one potty, one two-piece outfit, one bottle with two different caps, special doll food, one plate, one spoon, one diaper, one "magic" pacifier and one basic pacifier. No batteries required.

Amazon.com Product Description
BABY born enables the realistic role play of mother and child. No batteries are required for any of her nine life-like features which offer a wide range of play and encourage the mother care concept. This particular baby doll is ready to start potty training, but needs a little help. First, feed the 17" doll her own special food or let her drink from her bottle. Then change her wet diaper, or help her go to the bathroom on her purple potty like a big girl. You can even hear potty sounds so you know that the training is working.

But little girls needs more than potty training help from their mommies. This BABY born's clothing is removable so she can be bathed if the feeding was messy. She also cries every once in a while, so you may need to place the "magic" pacifier in her mouth. When you do this, she quiets down and closes her eyes. The doll has moveable arms and legs, which make her easier to dress and undress, allow her to have lifelike poses, and makes her easy for mommy to carry on the go.

Magic Potty
This doll has nine lifelike features, none of which require batteries.

BABY born with Magic Potty comes with one BABY born doll, one potty, a two-piece outfit, a feeding bottle with two caps, a plastic plate and spoon, food, one diaper, and two pacifiers (one "magic" and one basic).

3 out of 5 stars Not as much fun as anticipated   December 29, 2007

Very hard to play with even for an eight year old. The bottle has got to be held at exactly the right position to get her to cry. (the adults in the house have not got this to happen yet). Very messy. She would need a real diaper to hold all the water that flows from her bottom.

3 out of 5 stars not what I was expecting   December 28, 2007
I got this doll for my 3 year old. She is interested in baby dolls and since she is having a hard time potty training, I thought it would get her excited to use the potty. I read the instructions and still have a hard time figuring out how to get the doll to function properly. It is way more trouble and mess than it's worth. The fact that it requires no batteries is a plus, but the only noise ours makes is more like a squeeky toy than a baby! My daughter enjoys playing with it regardless. She especially likes that it can bathe with her. But all in all, she'd be just as happy with a doll that doesn't eat, drink and use the bathroom, and so would I!

1 out of 5 stars Not a good idea   December 26, 2007

This was a Christmas gift for a 5 year old. It takes a parent to feed, put on potty and definitely to clean after each use. The child can't do it alone. High maintenance toy. Frustrating for kids.

2 out of 5 stars Baby Born: The Review   December 3, 2007

Hi Kids and Parents! This time we are going to review the new zapf creation baby born doll. The first thing you have to realize about this doll is it is very very very messy. If you have baby alive you know what I am talking about. The food only goes down well if it has a high water content. In order to give her a bottle you literally have to shove it in her mouth, which is hard for little kids to do. She also immediately wets her diaper after she eats or drinks. The doll only comes with two diapers and the baby born brand diapers are like six bucks just for a four or six pack. If you buy this doll get real newborn diapers at the store because it is a lot cheaper! The doll can go in the bath with you too. Now here is something that will make you definitely not want to buy this. My friend's baby born grew mold! Yes, mold!It is a giant parent time commitment to keep this doll clean and if you do not flush it out with the hole in the back of the doll like every five seconds it grows mold! Yes, it is very gross and revolting. After about a month or two the doll will just start to reek and stink. Then you may even have to throw it out! Well, I guess I will just tell you what it comes with in case you like a big mess and buy this doll for your little girl. The doll comes with the outfit it's wearing, a potty, two diapers(one which it is already wearing),a bottle and cap, two pacifiers(one makes her eyes close), a bowl and spoon, a few packets of baby born food, and I think a toy. I would suggest staying away from this doll. -Allie age 13

4 out of 5 stars 4 year old daughter loves this!   October 10, 2007

My daughter just got this doll for her 4th birthday and picked it out at the store herself. She wanted the Baby Alive doll originally, but when she saw this one and we read to her what it could do she was ready to take it home! As parents, we loved it because it didn't need batteries and doesn't talk like the Baby Alive doll, which seemed like it would be annoying after a short while! My daughter loves feeding this doll her bottle, making her go potty, and also making her cry. The food is kind of a pain, and luckily my daughter realized that too and is just content to give her the bottle of water instead. On the package it said the doll could giggle, but it turned out that the "giggling" is just a squeak sound it makes when you squeeze her left arm. That's fine with me though! The least amount of noise it can make the better! It comes with a pacifier that makes the doll's eyes close when you give it to her which is cute. My daughter also loves the fact the she can take the doll into the bath with her. I do wish it came with more diapers. It only comes with 2, and the doll wets quite a bit after giving her the bottle. I guess we'll just have to put her on the potty right away every time we feed her, but my daughter has fun doing that anyway. For anyone with a little girl who loves dolls but doesn't want to hassle with batteries and likes quiet toys, I would recommend this doll. We love it and our daughter does too!
