Not impressed, returned it for a better purse December 31, 2008 Originally we bought this for our 7 mo old daughter, but ultimately we returned it for various reasons. 1. It's not really a "learning purse", it just has various songs and sounds, FP tends to think if they slap some numbers and letters on a toy, they can call it a "learning" toy. 2. It's not easy to manipulate for little hands - this goes from opening the top to sliding the switch. I will commend the accessories as being appropriate and entertaining, but since that was the best aspect of toy, we opted to get a less expensive, non-battery activated first purse for our daughter and have been much happier with our choice, less expensive too when bought in store. FOr those looking for an alternative, we purchased the Playskool busy lil purse Playskool Busy Lil' Purse
super chunky yet super cheery!! November 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
like all other recent Fisher Price toys, the colors, music and jingles with this toy are great! the songs can teach numbers and colors. the purse is absolutely adorable and my daughter and her playmate have loved it for almost a year now. if you keep all the toys together with it, it is a great toy to use in your pretend "store" or "house." it stays clean and is very durable.
as far as its weaknesses, this purse is both bulky and heavy on the bottom to keep it from tipping over. the opening is not very wide, nor is its handle, so it's "purse" nature is not very comparable to a real purse. if you can overlook these functional details, the toy is great. any toy my toddler will spend more than 10 minutes with is a TREASURE, indeed!
Nice accessories but the purse itself fails miserably September 21, 2008 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I recieved this purse as a birthday gift for my one year old after having considered buying it myself many times. The accessories that come with it are cute and fun. The lipstick rattles, the money crinkles, there's a bracelet to wear and mirror to look in, and the keys attach to the front of the purse.
The purse itself is awkward and bulky and barely opens enough to see inside. Not that you'd want to, because the inside is all seams and screws and ugliness. The purse doesn't stay opened or closed that well, it flops back and forth. The switch to change modes is difficult even for me to set on the right mode, and frankly it doesn't teach or sing that much. A few words and couple songs.
A regular (non-electronic) purse with the same accessories would be great. My daughter likes putting other things in the purse and taking things out so I think I will get her a normal toy purse to keep the accessories in to carry around and she can play with this purse every once in a while.
All in all I am neutral on this product. The accessories are cute but the purse isn't impressive.
CUTE, CUTE CUTE! August 11, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My one year old granddaughter got this for her first birthday! How cute! She LOVES it! LOVES CARRYING IT AROUND! Kisses herself in the mirror! LOL Little zipper on front makes "zipper" sound. Makes clicking (closing) sound when closed, educational songs, etc. Even w/o the educational features, it is so much fun (and safe) for a little girl's first purse. What you would expect from Fisher Price.
I love the music! April 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My daughter is 6 months old, and I got her this purse because it is one of the few that actually says ages 6+ months. My daughter can't open the purse yet, or make it talk and sing (except on accidental occassion), she does love playing with the purse items. In particular, she loves the money because it crinkles, and the mirror. She also loves when it sings music, although my husband is a little disturbed that one of the songs says "look into the mirror, put my lipstick on" or something to that effect lol. My only complaint, is that it would be nice if the purse opened up a little wider to put things into. It is a little stiff and akward for smaller children, in my opinion. I usually don't buy "learning toys" either, but my daughter likes the music so much... I've been thinking of buying her something more interactive with sound for her age, so this particular toy changed my "anti-learning toy" mind because my daughter enjoys it so much.
