| Editorial Reviews:
Editorial Review Little ones who love playing "mommy" will find a captivating playmate in Baby Alive. With large brown eyes and expressive, animatronic features, Baby Alive introduces the responsibilities of parenting with lifelike functionality, eating specially prepared meals, drinking from her bottle, and actually going potty in her diaper. Baby Alive comes with everything you need to take care of her, including two doll diapers, four packets of doll food, bottle with nipple and cap, bowl, spoon, and bib. Mealtime can be messy, so some attention will need to be paid (usually by a grownup) to make sure Baby is clean, inside and out. Measuring 16 inches from the top of her head to the tip of her tiny, individually molded toes, Baby Alive laughs, burps, hiccups, and interacts with phrases and songs. While her oversized features might unsettle grownups, Baby Alive captures the imagination of preschoolers from the moment she wrinkles her pretty, pert nose. Extra packs of accessories, diapers, and food (sold separately) further extend the nurturing play of the Baby Alive doll. Requires four AA batteries (included). --Heather Lyndon

Great toy, even when I was a kid I loved it! November 7, 2008 This doll is all my daughter wanted. I saw the hispanic one and snatched it up right away since it was the last one on the shelf. My daughter is half Filipino so I tend to buy her the hispanic looking dolls. They look so much like her. I am GLAD the doll speaks English since my daughter is NOT spanish and does not speak the language (expcept counting to 10 in Spanish) I did not need a spanish speaking toy. I think many of us moms buy who have brown hair & eyed children lean towards the hispanic dolls so it would be a dis-service to us if these dolls only spoke Spanish. We just bought it so I can't rate how durable, only time will tell. I gave it an average on educational because it does not teach spelling or counting but she has plenty of other toys and school for that. It does spark imaginative play (away from the TV) which I think is VITAL to small children. When buying a toy like this I think it's only common sense to buy extra diapers so I don't find that to be a negative.
IT DID NOT COME WITH ENOUGH DIAPERS January 8, 2008 THE DOLL IS HEAVY. IT ONLY CAME WITH 2 DIAPERS. THEREFORE, THE DOLL COULD NO LONGER BE FED OR GIVEN A DRINK AFTER 1 FEEDING. MY DAUGHTER WAS EXCITED ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE DOLL HAD REAL BODILY FUNTIONS. HOWEVER, SHE WAS DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE SHE WENT THROUGH THE 2 DIAPERS AFTER 1 FEEDING.
Love this toy!!!! January 2, 2008 I ordered this doll for my three year old who is learning spanish.I thought the doll only spoke spanish, but it turns out that she is bilingual!!!! (I had to hold down the button on her wrist a little longer to help it switch languages.)It works perfectly and is a great addition to the rest of my daughter's blingual toy chest.
fun novelty baby doll December 31, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a fun baby doll with many options; no functions, speech/expression, drink/wet, eat/mess, all functions at once. Our girls have played with their dolls in all capacities & love them. If you are buying this for a little girl, be advised that the doll is large & heavy. We bought the hispanic version for our brunette caucasian daughter & she was thrilled to have a baby that "looks like me." We had no problem changing from spanish to english language.
Language mode December 29, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this for my niece, who has brown hair and brown eyes. The doll is bilingual, so you have to set the language to English because she comes in "demo" mode, which is Spanish. I followed the directions to change language to English, however whenever the doll's switch is turned to "off", her language resets to Spanish. This is VERY frustrating to my niece, who has stated that she doesn't want her baby to speak Spanish because she can't understand her. I can't find instructions to permanently change her language to English - though I am glad that, at least part of the time, she speaks English. Overall, Baby Alive is sturdy, well-made, and very cute.
