Sophie Kate July 2, 2008 My daughter loves this doll! She is usually very rough with toys, but she is so gentle with this doll. I love the fact that it is articulated so she can pose it how she wants. Cute outfit and the shoes are easy for her to put on and take off (my daughter is 2, so this is a big deal for me!). I was worried that her hair would get knotted up and tangle easily, but that hasn't been a problem at all! Great doll for the money!
great for a bit older child January 12, 2008 This is a really super cute doll. She would be great for older little girls who like to pose their dolls and stand them up. However she is not cuddly and soft, so not quite perfect for your little ones who still hug and feed their dolls.
My name January 12, 2008 This doll is really neat. I thought it was like a rag doll but when we got her out of the box she's Bendable! I bought her for a grandchild but when I seen her I could not give her up. But I did go back and order another for the child.
What a sweetheart! December 29, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought Sophie Kate in October for my 2 year old daughters birthday. I think one of the main reasons I chose her is because she appealed to my inner child. I liked the fact that the line was for young girls... yet she wasn't a baby doll. There aren't many dolls like that except for cabbage patch kids or those nasty little Bratz dolls. They were all so cute that it was hard to choose one. I liked Sophie's pretty boucle hair though. She came with a piece of chalk and a booklet that shows you how to play hopscotch. Sophie came wearing a cute pink dress and pink sneakers. She is so cute!
So, after 2 months of being carted around by a 2 year old and sometimes her 4 yr old brother she is in pretty good shape. The dolls have cloth arms and legs with wire inside so they are posable but soft and fully movable. Her head, hands, feet and torso are plastic that is coated with this type of soft peach fuzz texture. Some of that has rubbed off on extremities (tip of nose, tips of fingers, where shoes go) but it doesn't look bad as long as you keep it clean. Speaking of cleaning, she is very easy to clean (I use a microfiber cloth and some baby wash). She has had a few hairs fall out but I imagine it didn't happen without some assistance. I have put her hair up in a ponytail because it is just SO much. The ends of her hair are slowly unraveling and it is a nice effect.
Overall, she is a great doll, with a sweet face (did I mention she has eyelashes???). A real little girl and I am just so pleased with Mel Birnkrant the swell guy that made and tried for 5 years to get these dolls manufactured. He really did great!
