It's what she wanted December 31, 2008 First of all, the good. She is a BIG doll, and she is cute. Other reviewers discussed her inability to stand alone - we've had no problems with this. She comes with shoes, and she stands better when she is wearing them. We've also had no problem with her clothes coming off. Her skirt is loose, but it has stayed on just fine for us. Of course, if it did come off, because of her size, we have clothes that can fit her.
Now for the challenges: she comes with a brush and two barrettes, but her hair will come out when combed. I finally had to limit my daughter's brushing because there was hair everywhere. Second, she is big! She is still under our Christmas tree awaiting a permanent home. After about 10 minutes of playing with her on Christmas morning, my daughter has forgotten her. So, her playability was not great for us.
The doll was worth the money only because my daughter really wanted her. Other than that, I would not have invested in this doll.
..just like a member of the family!! December 27, 2008 It is the cutest thing to see my child sit with her and smile. She talks to Dora and answers her "questions." She loves the song, and dances around. Dora is like our third child. She sits with my daughter and watches tv, and lays down with her! It even startles me sometimes when I walk by and see her there, and think it's one of my kids because of her size. (Although my children do NOT have a head the size of Dora's, which is HUGE.) Unlike other reviews I have read, I thought her hair was fine. Dora came with ponytails, and we have left it that way for now. I also think she says a lot more than just a few phrases. One hand activates one phrase and a song, and the other hand activates many phrases, but I think it depends on how quickly you keep pressing her hand. I think if you wait awhile, it kind of resets and says the same things again, whereas, if you press her hand repeatedly, she keeps saying different things. This doll is HUGE and a bit heavy, but my child LOVES her. She loves Dora, and was so excited to get her on Christmas morning!
what a buy December 1, 2008 i bought this doll for my triplet grandchildren who adore dora..it was a big hit..even my grandon loved her and wanted her to sit right next to him at the dinner table..i actually got a great deal on a special through amazon so that made it so much better..
Overrated!! November 29, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this toy for my then 4 year old daughter. She liked it at first until Dora's hair became a tangled mess. The doll doesn't stand on its own for too long and if it falls on a small child it hurts!! The doll is not in the closet and out the way ready to be put into the trash can.I would definately say that it is not worth it!!
BIG Dora November 16, 2008 My daughter was absolutely so excited to receive this toy! This is one BIG Dora, as it is about the size of a three-year-old, but that is what she wanted more than anything. She is quite sturdy, and my daughter loves wearing her clothes. She doesn't have a lot of variety in what she sings and says, but it seems to be okay with my kids.
