 It doesn't work January 6, 2009
I ordered this toy as a gift for my grandson. It doesn't work. I have put the number of batteries it required and it moved about 6 inches. I have e-mailed Three Blue Heron where it came from and haven't received a shipping label to mail it back. I have asked twice for one.
Never worked January 3, 2009
This was a Christmas present for my son and it never worked. I read similiar comments here. Why is Tonka selling broken cars?

Just didn't work January 2, 2009
I'll just reiterate what the other reviewers have said - the cars just didn't work. We got two of them for Christmas, and loaded them with new batteries. After checking, and rechecking, the batteries and how they were seated, the racers still did not work. We went out, bought another set of new batteries, and still nothing.
Right about the time we thought it was something we were doing, I remembered the cardinal rule of all products - when in doubt, check Amazon reviews! Glad to know it wasn't just us.
Didn't work... December 30, 2008
I got my son this toy for Christmas. I ordered it from Hasbro, because they had the best deal at $29.00. We opened it and it did not work. We put all 6 batteries in and nothing! We came online to purchase another one since we will be sending this one back and saw all the horrible reviews. Crazy! I think we will get him something else.

I bought this car for my 4 year old for Christmas, and as it did take a bit to realize there is a second battery compartment that is a hard to spot, once we figured it out my son is having a blast with it. It is perfect for his age and level of learning. I have not noticed any problems with the short range of operation, my son prefers to be right with the car anyways. That is what is fun, watching it go back and forth and flip under his feet. Best Tonka truck I have purchased in a long while.
