awkward November 11, 2008 My son got this last Christmas when he was almost 4. He loved the noises it made, but like many others, he couldnI't operate it by himself. Mostly it became a toy Mommy performed for him and he would cheer and pick what cars would go in it and hit the release button while i turned the crank. He's now almost 5 and still can't operate it, has lost a lot of interest in it. Some of his friends who are 6+ also cannot make it run without me helping them out. The drop in slot for the car almost never works, we start it with the car already loaded inside the 'circle.' Unlike most of my son's hot wheel track products, though, it has not yet broken beyond repair. Very hesitant to buy any Hot Wheel produts this year due to their 'rickity'-ness and flimsy cheap construction. This toy is also large and long, takes up a lot of space.
Excellent value for the price! February 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this as an additional Christmas gift for my five year old son, and minus the slightly awkward positioning of buttons and gagets (requiring two people to operate until my son got it figured out) it was really fun! I believe I paid 10.00 for it, so I was not expecting much, but this toy was a hit!
Disappointing.... January 14, 2008 I agree with other reviews that this required a lot of coordination. It is too flimsy to stay upright on its own while you crank the wheel and try to press the button to launch the car. You have to hold it steady with a finger on the launch button while cranking the wheel and then try and align it with the target at the same time. My 5 year old had some considerable trouble mastering the coordination and grew impatient. He loved the concept and the noise etc but got frustrated quickly with the work involved and ended up playing with the cars and launching them at the target himself. This kept him happy for some time, but he has not gone near it since. If they could make it more stable on the floor it would be a lot more fun to play with, I think.
My son loves it. January 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Large and rather durable for the hot wheels items (which often aren't at all.) It's a very cool toy and my son plays with it for a long time. Be aware that it's a loud toy.
Ah Cool Mom! That's what my 7 year old says... December 29, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Santa Claus gave this to my 7 year old son and he loves it. It comes with one car that lights and makes sounds. The unit itself plays music and lights up. You put that lightning stand at the end of the ramp, put the car in and crank it, release the button and off it goes busting through the caution sign. My 2 year old loves to sit and watch and says a loud "OOOOOO" once the car is launched. We've tried my son's other hotwheels and they work...not as well as the car that comes with it. Even my 15 year old daughter gets a kick out of playing it with the boys.
