Lots of Creative Fun January 5, 2009
My 9 and 5 year old each got the deluxe set this Christmas, and so far they love it! The directions are not real specific, but we have learned to wet the beads throughly and let dry before turning out and spraying the other side. My 5 year old can be hard on things, and he has yet to destroy any of the creations. The 4000 bead refill kit is a must..look for when there is a deal on them!

Bought this for my 6 year old daughter for christmas and she loves it. She has no problem doing this all by herself. They stick together great but you need to spray it with a fair amt of water which isnt a big deal.

I bought my 6-year old son this set set for Christmas. He was sucked into the Pixos advertising, but after reading the abysmal Pixos reviews, I decided to buy this set instead. I figured if it was as bad as the Pixos, at least I wouldn't be out as much money. I'm pleasantly surprised to report that the Magic Beads have been a huge success!! Sure, there's some occasional frustration if he bumps the design and displaces the beads, but that is actually hard to do (unlike the pixos reviews). The beads also stick very well together, resulting in a great finished product that he's always very proud of. I think the Magic Beads are great. I can't speak to the quality of Pixos, but if you want a good, affordable alternative, this is the way to go!!!
Better than expected January 3, 2009
Two months ago, my 8-year old son found out about Pixos (aqua dots). While looking on Amazon for Pixos, he discovered Art-Tastic Magic Beads. I looked at the reviews and they were good. Santa got this for my son and his 5-year old sister. My son said it was his favorite gift, and has nothing bad to say about it. The only negative comment I have about the toy is that I find beads all around the house. A more secure container would be nice.

This has a great concept, as I was looking for something that was difference from Pixos given the reviews. This one is not too great either. I am glad I only paid $8 for it when it was on a great Amazon deal. I would NOT pay more than $10 for it. The beads do stick together after about 24 hours, but the pen does not function well at all. If you don't mind putting the beads in by hand, this would be fun, but the pen should not even be included. It sure doesn't seem like over 1,000 beads, either. Save your money on this one!
