Great toy December 12, 2008 I bought this for my son's second birthday. He loved it and took to it right away. He spent over an hour on it the first time. He's had it for a few weeks now and he sometimes pulls it out and asks to "make pictures". He is so proud of himself when he fits the pieces in and when he completes a puzzle, he claps and cheers for himself. I had been wanting to get him a puzzle that is made up of basic shapes so this works well. I call out the names of the shapes as he puts them in and he repeats them. It's also good for teaching colours. The only thing he sometimes has a problem with is the triangles, because they are not equilateral, so he has to turn them to fit them in. Sometimes he gets a little frustrated but I think it's good he has a bit of a challenge - he's learning to turn them so it's an accomplishment when he fits them in. I love Melissa and Doug products. This as usual, is durable and attractive. There are more interesting puzzles in the box than what the picture shows - there is a train, fire truck, house, flowers, butterfly, dog, etc. I'm really glad I got this for him.
fun and educational toy for 3-yr-old November 30, 2008 My 3-yr-old nephew loved playing with this since he was 2. Learned shapes and colors, and his almost 2 yr old brother is learning fine motor skills with this toy as well.
Simple idea--Big fun November 16, 2008 My 2 year old received this over a year ago. In the beginning, it got lost under the electronic, attention-grabbing toys. However, it later emerged and he became facinated with matching the shapes to the holes. He has now learned that there are many alternate options (e.g. two trianges can make a square, two squares can make a rectangle, etc.). He and his little sister also like to stack the pieces to make sandwiches! Although this is not their most sophisticated or exciting toy, it is one of few that consistently holds their interest.
Great puzzle October 30, 2008 I love the quality on these puzzles and their colors are very eye catching. I'm using them in my Bible class - when they answer the question, they get a puzzle piece. (2 & 3 yr. old class)
2 year old daughter loves this toy! August 14, 2008 I do not have a single bad thing to say about this toy - my 2 year old daughter loves it! She was given this toy for her 2nd birthday.. and immediately took to it. All the puzzles are front & back and there are enough pieces to do all the puzzles (no matter if its front or back). She mastered all the puzzles within a week of opening it and still plays with them every single day.
The puzzle boards are very durable - and the pieces are perfect for little hands. We have been working on colors / shapes with the pieces, and they are a perfect learning tool.
Highly recommend this puzzle - your little one will definitely love this toy!
