Not what I expected September 5, 2010 Chyrl Duggan (Amarillo, Texas) My first disappointment was the set up of the keyboard. With our times of technology and the daily use of computers for everything I was not exceptionally happy with the non-qwerty set up of the keyboard. I do understand the why someone would think the set-up of the keyboard and placement of the letters is a good idea for the purpose of learning the letters in order, however, this also means when they go to use a real keyboard they will need to relearn the placement of letters as this is not a qwerty-style keyboard. My son is only 2 but we've been teaching him letters on his own keyboard since he was 18 months old. Due to this it will only lead to confusion. This was a big reason I sent it back.
The second disappointment was the size of the screen. Like I said, I sent this back and found other toys that taught the same concepts, without the task of re-teaching my son a different way once he is older.
Instructive and fun August 24, 2010 Eda My kids loves the laptop, however, since he is only 18 months, he cannot understand its use as desiged and uses it in may other ways, so I cannot review the durability of this laptop just yet. I will give him back the laptop in 6 more months, maybe he will play with it in a more calm manner and I will leave a feedback on the durability as well :)
Good Value July 8, 2010 Shopper101 I got this for my son's 3rd birthday. He has a 4 year old brother and 7 year old sister. Maybe because it's new, but they all want to play with it. It holds their attention for 15-30 minutes at a time. The kids love to dance to the music tunes in the car or at home. The handle makes it easy for little hands to grip, so it travels everywhere with us. My daughter says she likes it better than the Thomas the Train laptop my other son got for his birthday because it tells you the right answer. It's very durable and easy to use. I don't find the volume level to be too high like other reviewers. All in all, it's a great value with lots of features.
Not as good as expected July 1, 2010 Anechkaa When I ordered this laptop, I had very high expectations. However, they did not materialize, because the laptop turned out to have a VERY SMALL SCREEN, where you can barely see. The quality of the picture is extremely poor and the mouse is not a very comfortable one for my son.
Hands down, 4 yr olds FAVORITE toy YAAAH!! April 26, 2010 Stevenk (California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Purchased the Vtech laptop for Christmas 09 for my 4 yr old daughter..Yaaah! Within a couple of days she had figured out how to work everything and has played constantly with it.... Yaaah! The games are challenging for her and she enjoys trying to figure out the problems....Yaaah!
Pro's:
Easy to use, challenging, fun, sounds out letters/words.
Con's:
Very small screen, poor graphics, and while it has a positive confirmation every time she gets an answer correct, it blurts out....YAAAH!!! This could potentially trigger incessant neurotic to psychotic behavior in parents. Yaaah!!!
