Product Description The challenge of Quiddler is to arrange your entire hand into words. Draw and discard in turn. Try to use those high point letters, but don't get caught with them uncombined! Quiddler is fast paced because you can play using everyday words. A bonus is given for the most words in each round (so little words can help you win), as well as for the longest word. Quiddler is a delightful challenge for both rookies and word game lovers. Quiddler is for up to eight players.
Editorial Review The rules are brutal, but the rewards are worth it in this card game that works a bit like Scrabble. Although there is a solitary version of the game for one player, you can play with up to eight. Cards containing letters of the alphabet and special combinations of letters are dealt in increasing number each time the dealer completes a round. Once you've collected your share, you can discard and pick up a new card with each turn. The object is to turn all the letters in your possession into dictionary-proof words while leaving one stray card as a final discard. You want to be the first to accomplish the goal, of course, but there is a scoring system that makes the play competitive for everyone. One nice element is the cards themselves: the letter design is based on beautiful artwork from Celtic manuscripts. This card game is a 1999 Parents' Choice Silver Award winner. --Tom Keogh

What has eight letters and spells FUN? September 15, 2008 This card game is addictive! I learned it quickly during a group camping trip, vowing to buy my own deck upon my return. I've since bought several more decks and have taught it to my family and friends (young and old). They're all as hooked on it as I am.
It's a word game, but since the words formed are usually no more than 3-6 letters long, it's accessible to a wide range of spelling abilities. An average game can last 20-45 minutes and scoring is simple. Our family chose to use an official Scrabble dictionary as a reference, since the guidelines of the two games are similar.
The playing cards are high quality, made to stand up to many hundreds of rounds of the game. The instructions are clear and concise (one can also play solitaire Quiddler).
I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes word games and to groups whose participants have varying skill levels.
Fun at your fingertips September 9, 2008 Love the game!! Our employees play this card game with the residents at our retirement home and it is a lot of fun. Players can make the game challenging or not; it is entirely up to the creativity of the participants. Make sure you have a dictionary available as it makes the game more interesting.
Very satisfied September 7, 2008 I bought my first Quiddler game at a mall during Christmas season 3-4 years ago. I enjoyed it so much I returned and bought 2 more for my daughters. The game is a lot of fun.
A great mind-challenging game August 30, 2008 Quiddler is a very challenging game for adults and teenagers. It helps to develop vocabulary, is easy to learn, and doesn't take hours to play. Younger children can also play, but adults will have a decided advantage.
Better than Scrabble! August 26, 2008 Get this game--agree on the house rules regarding use of dictionary--and HAVE FUN! Currently our favorite game.
