Great game with a lot of options December 2, 2008
We enjoy this game so much, we went out and bought a second set to add pieces for a longer game! Good for kids 6-99.
Carcassonne, a great board game for all November 23, 2008
I was introduced to Carcossonne by a friend one evening. It's amazing just how much fun you can have without the TV or the computer. This is a great game for two to five people. I've played it with fellow adults and with my niece and nephew (age 8 and above) and all have wanted to play another game, once we finished the first. I highly recommed this game for the strategy, non-violence, uniqueness of each game and overall fun.
Great - GREAT game November 20, 2008
I bought this game not knowing anything about it: I was looking for a new board game and wanted something new and best of all - GOOD. So I researched which games one board game of the year and took a gander at Carcasonne. When it arrived, it took a few tries to learn it on my own and appreciate what it was. It has tiles and pieces - no board. After learning how the game works, my obsession and appreciation only grew.
The tiles are placed one by one to create the board of the game (or map). From there, players add their pieces to the map and try and gain control over roads and castles, etc. Each player places one tile at a time (drawn by luck) but the knowledge of gameplay ads a strategy to the game, which is great. This is a fun, interactive game that allows you to play a fun game, while also building a map and creating your own environment at the same time. Anyone who enjoys sim-city will be instantly addicted to this game, but the creation aspect is not the main aspect of the game.
And best of all, there are countless expansion packs, giving you more tiles and more ways to earn points and play the game. So far I bought 3 expansions and will most likely buy more in the future. This box allows five people and other expansion packs give you more pieces. Others give you new spins and takes and forces you to keep in mind the different rules in order to advance. Great game!
Get it! November 10, 2008
Bought this for my husband, who had been eyeing it. He loves strategy games, though Carcassonne wouldn't really be considered one. One of the best things about this game is that it's so easy to learn how to play and it only takes 1-2 hours to complete. Even our 5 year old and 8 year old girls love to play it!
Fun & Challenging November 8, 2008
I couldn't stop playing this game the first day! It is easy to learn, but hard to learn strategies for. Love it!
