great for older kids or patient adults December 30, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this for my two 3 year old grandsons. They loved the marble action but it required pretty much constant attention from their parents as the structures are unstable and easily knocked over with a resounding crash. There are many variations in building design and lots of interesting pieces but construction is somewhat complicated, often requiring checks with the included design book. This game is really for older children or for young children with very patient parents.
Excellent Learning and Imaginative tools December 22, 2007 My brother bought this for my daughter this past Eid and she loves it. She's 4 years old and it's still a little challenging for her without my help, but my wife and I assist her and we all enjoy it together. No batteries, no toxic plastics, requires cognitive thinking, and motor skills. Your child will have fun when the structure is put together and you'll enjoy the sense of accomplishment they have when after they complete the multiple configurations possible. We plan to expand on the quadrilla once she masters the pieces that come with the basic set.
Excellent basic set that will leave you & your child wanting MORE November 30, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a really fun set, and kids unequivocally love it. However, you are pretty limited in marble run configurations, since there is only 1 switch (marble goes right or left) and 1 fancy piece (the whirlpool).
Your child will have so many more creative options with a larger set. Plus a larger set will keep them entertained for a longer period of time, and more kids can play. This set is pretty much for 1-2 kids at a time. They'll set up one configuration, run the marbles, set up another one, run the marbles, and pretty much be done.
If you can't swing a larger set at this time, the Basic set is a good introduction, and you can add on another Basic set or the Basic Expansion set [...] at a later date.
A little wobbly August 11, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
We love this after it is all set up. But, when my little boy (age 4) leans over to get another marble started or whatever, the whole structure falls down. It gets a little frustrating/ iritating. It the table MOVES, it's down. We are thinking of glueing it all together. :) It's OK-- I secretly wish I bought the $15 one at Target. It snaps together tight because it's made of plastic. But, it is a cool toy and the marbles racing down the track and through the helix are just mezmerizing to all of us!
My son's favorite toy May 31, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
We got this for my son last week for his third birthday and it's almost the only thing he's wanted to play with since. We help him set it up but already he's experimenting with adding blocks on his own and adding the "accelerators". As other people have said the only problem is that now we all want more pieces...
