Editorial Review
The object: try not to lose your marbles. A long-time favorite, Ker-Plunk takes a steady hand, as you skillfully remove the sticks from the marble-filled tube. A clear plastic tube is filled with marbles, which are supported by crisscrossing sticks inserted through the tube. Each player takes a turn removing a stick from the tube, trying to dislodge as few marbles as possible. As the game progresses and fewer sticks remain, it gets harder to keep the marbles from going ker-plunk! Play continues until all the marbles have fallen. The player with the fewest marbles in his compartment wins! For two to four players. --Alison Golder

2 out of 5 stars Great game but CHEAP CONSTRUCTION   December 22, 2008

Isn't there a better version of this game available? LOVE this game, but the thing is made of such thin, lightweight plastic that we all get frustrated trying to insert the sticks which just slip right through and the whole thing topples over unless someone holds the game upright the WHOLE game. It's the kind of junk you'd expect from a cheap kids meal or something... the only thing real and sturdy about this game is the marbles. My daughter loves this game, but I really hope we can return it and get a stronger one. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is that we love the game.

3 out of 5 stars Fun, but flimsy   August 18, 2008

This is a great classic game, but the sticks are like uncooked spaghetti noodles--thin and very easily broken. I wouldn't recommend it for little kids. Maybe tweens & up.

2 out of 5 stars Not worth the money   June 2, 2008

This was another toy I remember playing as a kid. I don't think this game was made very well. When you try putting the sticks in, they slide back out. Plus when it is your turn your suppose to turn the tower, it falls over and tried to break apart. I would not recommend this toy to anyone it is made very cheap.

5 out of 5 stars Good game, lotsa fun   January 31, 2008
Others have complained that this version is pretty wobbly and flimsy. I had it when I was a kid too, and to be honest, I can't remember how wobbly and flimsy it was. I recalled it being larger, but I was smaller back then. If you know to be a little careful when inserting the sticks and if you put your hand on top when you're removing a tight stick, you'll have no problem. My kids (ages 4 and 6) have a lot of fun with it, and us parents get into it too.

3 out of 5 stars Good game, but not great.   January 16, 2008

I bought this game as a Christmas gift for my kids, ages 5 and 8, because I was looking for something that they could play with together (with or without parents) that would be suitable for their respective ages and ability levels.

The game is indeed fun and enjoyable for all ages, but is really impossible for them to use without adult assistance. Once the first half of the sticks are inserted into the center piece, the rest are more difficult to place, and easily slip back out of the holes when other sticks are inserted. My kids quickly grew frustrated with the process, which reduced their enjoyment of the game (and the likelihood that they'll play with it often). The pieces of the "tower" come apart too easily, and it tips over if it isn't held at the top while each player pulls the sticks out.

While playing the game is fun and takes only a few minutes (a plus for young kids with short attention spans), setup takes more than twice as long, and fidgety children tend to use that time to play with (and spill) the marbles before they can be poured into the top half. All in all, it's great fun for two or three quick games, but only if young kids have a patient adult to assist them. A game like Connect Four might be better for independent play.
