Product Description
Step right up! All the action of a real arcade comes to life with this super-exciting four-foot-tall Whac-A-Mole carnival tower. Children can use the included mallet to tap - or pound - the mole on the head and send him shooting up the tower. Youngsters will have a ball testing their skills by trying to light up each different section of the tower.

Turn on the Fun
At three feet tall when fully assembled, the Whac-A-Mole Tower is a miniature version of the popular carnival game. Featuring goofy mole cartoons, electronic lights, bell sounds, and automatic scoring, this toy is just as enticing as the real thing. Kids can choose from four different games and multiple players can join in the fun. Once the three-piece hinged tower is built, kids press the yellow arrow key until they reach the game they want to play, then press the green check mark. When the game is announced, it's time to grab the mallet and whack that mole! Although the Whac-A-Mole Tower is easy to set up and loads of fun, there are a few minor design flaws. The tower is constructed out of plastic and our testers weren't completely sure it could hold out against relentless mallet pounding. Also, the cardboard sign on the bell comes tumbling to the ground at the slightest touch. But unless your child is a pint-sized version of Thor, the Whac-A-Mole Tower should withstand rough child play.

Play It
With four different games to choose from, the Whac-A-Mole Tower offers endless mole-whacking amusement. When playing hammer time, kids try to light up all nine zones in the fastest time. In lights out, players send the mole up the tower to turn off the lights and the game ends when all five areas light up at once. Hit 100 is a game of a different sort, where players must score 100 points in the fastest time, and sometimes players have to send the sliding mole all the way to the top. In 0 to 60, kids compete in a head-to-head challenge and try to be the first to score 60 points. All games can be played with more than one player, so no one will be left out of the group.

Testing the Tower
Our testers decided to give the mole a whack and see if this toy is as fun as it looks. After a couple minutes spent taking out aggression on the bucktooth mole, it became obvious that this is the ideal kid's toy. Not only do the four games ignite friendly competition, simply trying to get the rodent all the way up the tower is a challenge. Once the tower is turned on, a fast-paced, distracting song plays through the game selection process and during game play. Despite a few minor design flaws, the Whac-A-Mole Tower gives kids the excitement they would find at a carnival, making this toy a great choice for families. This toy requires three C batteries (not included).

Pros

  • Has four fun games for friendly competition
  • Easy to set up
  • All games allow multiple players
Cons
  • Sign at the top falls off easily
  • Song is loud and distracts from game play
  • Plastic construction might not hold up against rough play

4 out of 5 stars Fun Game   November 10, 2008
My 6 year old son and ALL of his friends love this game. Downside... it's pretty loud. But it's sturdy and the boys seem to enjoy it.

3 out of 5 stars My daughter had a great time   August 4, 2008
We do not own this, but my friend's son almost 6 does and a few days ago when they invited us for dinner, her son had this all set up to play with my 3 year old daughter. They had a great time.you have to hit all the numbers on the post and then when your finished. you hit the "bell" at the top so you win!. My daughter didnt get that part but her son was there to help out. there are also two game modes but "hammer time" was the one I saw them play the most and heard. her son said you have to hit them in "order" even though you don't, it might just make things easier. but this toy was fun and you dont need to be a pro to have fun with this toy. I would recommend that the sign is attached on or something because i noticed the card board sign always slides.

3 out of 5 stars Not worth the money!   June 6, 2008
I just bought this at Target on Clearance for less than $7. I'm so glad I didn't pay the original price of $25! It's hard for younger kids to understand because there are three games that work differently with the lights, they just want to bang it. It is not meant to be dissasembled and put up but since it takes very little space - that is ok. Game froze after using it for only 5 minutes but since it was so cheap, I will keep it and when my 4 year old gets frustrated, I'll tell her to bang away. Had I paid full price, it would be going back. My daughter said "this is boring" after playing it for about 10 minutes - not a good sign.

3 out of 5 stars Interest faded quickly   May 27, 2008
Bought this for the 7 year old who had to have it for Christmas. Have the original Whac-a-Mole that has been around for 6 or 7 years with the older kids. My children were bored with this immediately. I doubt they've played with it 5 times. It just sits around and the baby occasionally pounds it with the hammer and I get to listen to the annoying music go off. I really dont recommend. Buy the original game before this one.

3 out of 5 stars fun, but short-lived   February 13, 2008
My 4 y/o got this for xmas and played with it initially, but then lost interest. He was able to play the game easily and without frustration-which is nice! Seems very durable.
