This 27-piece alphabet block set from Uncle Goose is one of the best-quality block sets on the market. Each large (1-3/4 inches square), all-wood block is carefully sanded for smoothness, embossed, and finished with child-safe, nontoxic paint. Two sides of each block feature recessed letters with Braille symbols. The remaining four sides picture animals, numbers, math symbols, and letters. These blocks are attractive and well-made. But I do have a problem with them. Not knowing braille, I felt the braille lettering to see if I could distinguish it. I really can't clearly feel it.
I think the "bumps" need to be deeper and larger, to make the braille lettering more clear. I hate to criticize such a fine product, but I do think this would make it better and more useful.

I bought these blocks when my son was 14 months old, and they've been one of his favorite toys ever since. I bought the Braille version because, as an elementary teacher turned stay-at-home mom, I wanted him to see both the upper AND lower case letters! He LOVES these blocks - always building and knocking down towers, and he loves to run around the house saying the name of the letter he's carrying!! I highly recommend these - bigger and more durable than most others on the market, and the Braille version includes lower case letters!
