Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Tekno Pony walks, whinnies and dances around - just use the included remote to give your radio-controlled commands. Plus, there's no need to wonder what your pony friend is thinking. A translator gives you the inside scoop on Tekno Pony's thoughts. He reacts to sound, sight and touch, and walks while his head and tail move about. Groom your pony with the included accessories and "feed" him an apple for a job well done.

Requires 4 "AA" batteries and 3 "AG13" batteries (not included). Measures 11.5" x 10".

Amazon.com Product Description
The next time your child asks you for a pony, you might just want to say yes. Because unlike real ponies, the Tekno robotic pony isn't a lot of work--he's just a lot of fun. He walks forward, backward, right, left, and expresses emotions through color-changing eyes and equine whinnies. Just like any young horse, Tekno is perfectly content to chomp on his apple and be groomed (but not ridden). With the included wireless translator, you'll always know exactly what this pony is thinking and eventually he says several English phrases. He's also more than a one trick pony as he can impresses an audience with dancing, speaking, singing, and more. Children ages three through eight will be delighted as they learn how to program and work this amazing robotic toy.

Tekno Pony
This robotic pony has a magnetic sensor in its nose that lets it "eat" the included apple.
Tekno Pony has a sleek design, cool software features, and animation that creates smooth, realistic movements. Tekno's remote control will let you know when he wants to be walked, brushed, played with, or fed. Sensors that react to sight, sound, and light then allow him to perform advanced actions, like holding his apple on his snout. Behaviors are launched by pressing the sensors on his head, nose, and side. Children will enjoy his moving ears, swishing tail, and light-up eyes.

Tekno Pony weighs about 3.5 lbs, stands maybe two hands tall (measuring 11.5-by-10 inches), and requires four AA batteries and three AG13 batteries (none of which are included). The brown and white robotic pony comes with the Tekno Translator, an apple, a brush, and a saddle.

3 out of 5 stars Not as exciting as my daughter thought   January 7, 2008

This was one of those Christmas gifts that my 8 year old daughter just had to have - it was on the top of her list, so I got it for her. I had a feeling when I was buying it, that this would be the toy she wanted so bad, and then she would be really disappointed with it, but I bought it for her anyway. Unfortunately I was right - she played with it for about an hour on Christmas day (and for the record it's a pain just to get out of the packaging!) and she said "this is kinda boring" and she pushed it off to the side. I think we spent more time getting it out of the packaging than actual play time! Luckily her little brother and sister (ages 2 and 3) have been playing with it ever since, and they seem to enjoy it, but it's not a favorite of theirs either. Luckily when I purchased it, it was on sale for $29! If I had it to do over, I would have gone with my initial feelings and simply not purchased it, but that being said, my toddlers seem to enjoy it.

My daughter is 11 and she has not put this pony down for a minute. She loves horses and this little pony has given her so much joy. It acts so much like a real horse with the benefits of it being a robot (so that I don't have to take care of another pet). Wonderful, we even enjoy when SHE gives us attitude. Great toy. Would recommend to older children, my 7 year olds don't quite get it. Love it.

1 out of 5 stars Highly disappointing.   January 2, 2008

Says toy is for 3 and up. No way. My daughter is 5 1/2 and is still trying to figure it out. I've read the manuel twice and am not impressed. The toy is hard to get to respond. Doesn't hold her interest. Not worth all the money I paid for it.

2 out of 5 stars Bored my child too quickly   December 29, 2007

It took longer to get the darn thing out of the packaging than my daughter actually played with it. She is 7 and LOVES horses, but she became bored with this toy within 15 minutes. Played with once and hasn't played with it again since christmas.
