We LOVE this game! February 13, 2008 Purchased for a family of four with children aged[..]. We all agree, this is a great game! The first few times we played, it seemed like tic-tac-toe with a twist but as we got into it we realized the different levels of stategy and memorization involved. It's a very different game when I play my [..]than it is when I play against the [..]or my husband. Part of that is based on skill but it is also personality and the different way our minds work. It's a great brain game and lots of fun.
Fun for the whole family February 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game really gets you thinking about strategy. I think it is probably a great way to prepare kids for a game like chess. My husband and I also enjoy playing this game. It is well packaged, not in a cardboard box like most games. The directions are pretty good, although we were confused at first about what kind of movements were allowed, but we seemed to get it all figured out. A very calm, fairly fast game. Would be a great game for much older folks, too.
Great game, but not as pictured. August 21, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Gobblet is a great two-player game. It's like a combination of Connect Four and Tic-Tac-Toe with the ability to move anywhere and capture other pieces. It's simple to learn, but the strategy is more complex than it first seems. Gobblet is a fun challenge for two-players.
My only complaint is that it is not exactly as pictured. In the picture the light colored pieces match the box, but in reality the game I got has an orange varnished wooden box and light blond pieces. Also, it appears in the picture that game board fits into the top of the box during play, but this is not true. To fit into the top the lid must be turned over so the the playing board is inside the box. It's no big deal since this actually protect the board from scratches when in storage, and it can easily be placed on top of the box or any flat surface during play.
I highly recommend everyone try this game.
My favorite game, and I'm not a kid May 14, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm an adult who meets a friend once a week for as many rounds of Gobblet as we can take (ok, we play Cathedral too--both games rock). Everyone thinks we're nerds, but this game is so addictive we don't even care. It's so easy to play that in no time you "get it" and can hold your own against other players. It's not too brainy (I can't get into chess), but not too simple (Connect Four is just too easy and gets boring really fast). I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a good strategic game that's not too difficult but hours of fun.
The Blue Orange Gobblet game April 6, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this game for two grandsons because I had already played it with another grandson. It was fun for me as well as for him. It is fun for all ages. The game is also suitable for a travel game. Its a winner!
