Great collectible May 13, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I managed to find this toy at Wal-Mart the day after it was released. Only 2 were left and they were $11.99. I should've bought both but I didn't forsee the frenzy to buy these things that was to come. The toy itself is awesome. It has a lot of detail and it doesn't look like you're average child's toy. The big selling point for me was that it came with a joker card. Yes, I opened it. I'm not going to sell it 20 years from now, I paid a total of $12.22 for it and I'm going to showcase it out of the box. Now, you can't find these things anywhere! Amazon is selling brand new for $69.99!!! If I were you, I'd wait for more shipments to get in. Just like how gamers know when the next shipment of Wiis come in, there are plenty of people that know when toys come in. Just be on the lookout. There will be more. I just got lucky and I just love bragging to everyone that I got one. It's like when Power Rangers came out, you couldn't find those darn toys anywhere. But the big selling point for collector's is that it's a Heath Ledger action figure and he's sadly dead. But don't get scammed by buying online. Wait for more to come at your local toy retailer. Though, eBay has some good deals. But just wait it out. More will come when the movie is released.
This isn't gas from the Exxon station for crying out loud!!!!!!!!!!!! May 12, 2008 17 out of 26 found this review helpful
I can testify that the previous reviewers are correct. The price for this figure is seriously gouged. The sellers should be ashamed of themselves. The value of this figure is $9.99 in retail stores. Do yourself the favor and do not give your hard earned cash to the unscrupulous merchants who charge anything above that!
The price of all May 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Hey guys, it took me a while to come across these but a local place here was selling them for less than this but more than the what its going for at Wal-Mart. I was able to get three to try and get out here to people who really just want the figure to collect. I'm not able to sell it for the price it is normally but I am willing to sell them at a more reasonable price than 180 bucks. Contact me if you are interested. Thanks Mantt
TDK Joker is a good figure haunted by tragedy May 9, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Mattel's TDK Movie Masters Joker is a good looking figure that is not worth more than $12. The joker card and evidence bag included are the best extras of the series, but it's still just a baggie and a playing card. The figure has about 15 points of articulation, not DCUC or even Marvel Legends level, but better than most mass market toys. The figure bears a passing resemblance to Ledger and the painted face is nice and smudged; a boon for Mattel in that it shouldn't look neat because neither does the film version.
Joker also comes with the knife shown in an earlier teaser poster, a nasty looking fillet knife. I've noticed in comparing mine with the pics of others online that most of these Movie Masters Jokers have a drastic, red lipstick smear on the right cheek. So if yours has one it's okay, they were made that way. I've also noticed many have repainted theirs with varying results, I say lose the lipstick smear if you must but be cautious otherwise; if you mess up the paint you may not find another one to replace it with!
If you are a mass market toy collector you will want this figure, but at the prices I've read this selling for you're better off waiting for Sideshow to release Hot Toys' version of TDK figures later this summer. At least those are higher end and detailed figures worth that kind of dime.
to PatrickO... May 8, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
i have to change my comment because i misconstrued the meaning of PatrickO's review. i believe the price is so high because Heath's death has made these figures very desirable to Batman fans and thus harder to find than the other figures in the line due to how quickly they're selling, not because they're trying to capitalize on his death. i've been trying to find even one of these figures in stores throughout my area and haven't found any despite the fact that the figures have only been available for a week. i've been to three different Walmarts and two Toys R Us stores and was unsuccessful at all of them.
