4 out of 5 stars The End Of An Era   February 10, 2009

First of all, this event heavily made up for the lackluster KOTR event that happened a month before & was actually one of the better events from 1999 (you can't say that there were a lot of them). This PPV event was all about one thing & that this was going to mark the end of one of the best feuds that the WWF had that helped established the Attitude Era.

Intercontinental Champion Edge vs Jeff Jarrett. The night before at a House Show in Toronto, Edge won his first singles title & this was the rematch. Edge showed early signs of his future potential as he held his own with the veteran Jarrett as he did against Owen Hart at BreakDown 1998. The ending was a bit of a jip but this was still a good opener.

Tag Team Champions Hardy Boyz & Michael Hayes vs The Acolytes. This was under "Acolytes Rules" that was the same concept as the Freebird days or even the Jersey Triad in WCW as this was a handicap match for the tag titles. These two teams rarely disappoint & Hayes actually did some nice work while in the ring & did not slow the match down so this was another good match that the crowd got into.

European Champion Mideon vs D'Lo Brown. After months of the European Title being on the shelf, it returns here. Honestly, Mideon does nothing for me as a performer so this was the first flop of the evening as D'Lo was really over with the crowd at this point & a solid competitor but he could not carry Mideon to a good performance.

Hardcore Champion Al Snow vs Big Bossman. Before I begin, I want to mention that this is the fourth match of the night & the fourth title that is on the line. Anyways, this was exactly what you expect it to be: Brawling around the arena using various weapons before it ended up in the streets with the creative ending of Bossman handcuffing Snow on the fence to get the victory.

Kane vs The Big Show w/Special Referee Hardcore Holly. Anyone who hates this match just doesn't like "big man vs big man" matches as they actually had a good match here. I had no idea why Holly was in this match as I felt he took away from this match including the ending but besides that this was better than their KOTR match because they were given time to compete & better than their dull Backlash encounter from 2006.

Iron Circle Match: Ken Shamrock vs Steve Blackman. This resembled the future Parking Lot Brawls involving Guerrero/Cena & Cena/J.B.L. as they mostly brawled in the parking lot with the cars being used only for some impact moves. This was worth the watch even though I did not really care about this match or this feud.

Rights To The DX Name: Road Dogg & X-Pac vs Billy Gunn & Chyna. This was the surprise of the night for me as I thought this match would be hard to sit through but this was actually a good tag team match that had some entertaining moments like Chyna manhandling X-Pac (he is use to that, if you don't know what I mean, leave me a comment & I'll let you later) before it was settled between the former Outlaws.

Fully Loaded Strap Match: The Rock vs Triple H. The winner of this match would become the #1 Contender for the WWF Championship at SummerSlam. These two have never had a bad match as they went at it hard in the ring & had a nice brawl outside of the ring with the stiff moments involving the strap coming into effect including a moment where Rock whipped Triple H in the chest that it made me cringe. Also cameo appearances from Chyna & Billy Gunn but it did not take away from a match that I consider another "lost classic" that again, would have been a worthy edition to the Rock or HHH DVD sets.

First Blood "End Of An Era": WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin vs The Undertaker. The climax of the Austin/McMahon feud as the stipulations for this match was that if Austin loses, he would never get another shot at the WWF Title again but if Austin wins, Vince is no longer in the WWF. Austin & Taker usually had good matches together & this was one of them as it was an intense brawl with both men selling their injuries from earlier in the night (they were attacked & busted open by one another) with cameo appearances from Triple H, The Rock, X-Pac & Shane McMahon who took one of the hardest chairshots that I have ever seen. Vince McMahon doing commentary also added to the match along with a poetic finish to conclude the Austin/McMahon rivalry.

In the end, this was one of the better cards that the WWF put out in 1999 as this event ended storylines & started new ones while for the most part delivered with some underrated performances. Solid card overall with the exception of the European title contest so I recommend.

5 out of 5 stars Triple H was the man.... in 1999.But not now;Game over!(Batista Fan)   October 19, 2005
2 out of 9 found this review helpful

Triple H was one of the best wrestlers in 1999.He returned from an knee injury(late 1998)turned on D.X,Joined the Corporate Ministry, took out Mankind, turned on Chyna,(for a brief period)won the title from Mankind(Raw,August 23 1999,Helmsleys first title reign),put Vince over so he could win the title(Vinces title reign for a week),won an six pack challenge at Unforgiven in 1999,beat the Rock at least 3 times(Fully Loaded 1999 in a strap match,Rebellion 1999 in a cage match, and SmackDowns debut in August of 1999) beat Stone Cold at No Mercy 1999,and drugged Stephanie McMahon into marrying her, then turning her against her father and them beginning the Mcmahon-Helmsley Faction at Armageddon 1999.But that was six years ago.Triple H is not the best anymore but;Batista is.So face it Triple H your Game is Over.
