Does the job! October 27, 2008 TIny little thing with plenty of power to fill up a GIANT bounce house (takes 2 hours though, and needs to have time to charge for an hour in between) and I love the attachments! I recommend!
Works great for 20 bucks, However......... October 18, 2008 Works great for 20 bucks. However, the heads that come with it don't stay on by themselves. You have to hold them in place. For the aggrivation if you have something large to fill up, I would recommend spending a few more bucks. If this doesn't bother you then it's a great buy and even though it's a pain it's worth the 20 bucks!
Its ok September 15, 2008 I have a double Queen size air bed. A full charge barly fills it. I was hoping it would inflate and deflate it once but no such luck.
Works fine but insanely loud August 18, 2008 It works as promised. Charge it up with your car (DC) or in your house (AC). But note that it WILL NOT run directly from AC current - you can only run it directly with DC current.
This is because the AC/DC converter is small and cheap, so it does not have enough amps to run the pump directly. Note that this also means it charges MUCH more slowly on AC current vs DC (by a factor of 6 I believe). If you really care you can always find a more powerful AC/DC converter to overcome these limitations.
One big complaint is that there is no smart charging circuitry, so you have to be careful not to overcharge it. A better device would let you plug it in whenever, for how ever long you want (like a cell phone) without hurting the batteries.
Also, this thing is ridiculously loud, especially when the airflow is difficult (such as when your airbed is full). I have considered wearing earplugs but I'm not quite anal enough to remember them.
Works as advertised, very useful and portable April 18, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this pump to inflate a 10'x6' swimming pool. It works as advertised, and has two interchangeable nozzles. I like that the nozzles are attached to the inflating adapter head, so that there's minimal risk of losing a needed adapter. The unit is not quiet, but not terribly loud, either. It sounds as loud as a vacuum cleaner, and when you're using it outside, it's not bad at all. Very portable and handy and price ($17) was great, too.
The unit comes with two charging methods: A 12-volt DC adapter that plugs into a DC outlet such as those in cars, and a household AC adapter. I was under the mistaken impression (my own fault) that you could run it while plugged into the household electrical outlet using the AC adapter, but that is not so. It needs to be charged before it can be used. The owner's manual says to charge it for ten (10!) hours using the AC adapter before using, or an hour via DC 12-volt power outlet. You can, however, run it powered by a DC source. Presumably, this means you can buy a $10 AC (household outlet) to DC 12-volt converter, and use it via the converter with household outlets.
The unit has two air ports, one for inflating and the other for deflating. The nozzle adapter that fits over the ports, while snug, will not stay on by itself and need to be held in place by hand. This was a minor annoyance, but not too bad.
For the price, size, and convenience, this is a very useful little pump.
