Waste of Money January 5, 2009 What a waste of money. (I did not order it from amazon though). The tadpoles took forever to come in the mail. They finally arrived (in November where it is freezing cold here). Its been two months and the tadpoles are still tadpoles. I very much doubt they will ever turn into frogs. The habitat was made of very flimsy plastic. Im very surprised we had no leaks. I was overall very disappointed in this item and would not recommend it.
Tadpoles December 24, 2008 This is for pinkandbubbly. You can buy tadpoles at www9.mailordercentral.com/unclemilton HOPE THIS HELPS!!! :]
I'm sure there's better out there December 4, 2008 We got this last year as a Christmas gift for my 7 year old daughter. We ordered the tadpoles right away but they weren't able to ship until May. The directions were very easy and the tadpoles did fine, better than some friends who bought their tadpoles locally and died right away. So the tadpoles didn't take a few weeks to change into frogs, (like the directions said) it was actually 6 months. They did send us out more free tadpole food after we emailed a request.
Once the tadpoles turned into tiny little frogs we were so excited and we went to Petsmart to buy food for them. The lady said they would eat these little pellets so we bought those. A couple of weeks later the first frog died. The 2nd one was still half tadpole. Once he turned into a frog I went back to Petsmart thinking that the food was wrong and that he had starved to death. A different person told me to buy earthworms and cut them and put them in because they might want live, moving food. I did that and the frog won't touch them. I don't know if he's eating the other pellets or not, so hopefully he won't die too.
Worth it for the cage, but get your own frogs. November 3, 2008 Gave up trying to get the tadpoles to grow after 4 attempts - all died quickly. We went to PETCO and got two fire toads instead ($4 each, less than the Planet Frog tadpoles cost), for which the Planet Frog housing was perfect! It is light and has no loose gravel, so you can just rinse the whole thing out weekly in a large sink. After 12 months it is getting worn, but I'll probably buy another Planet Frog container again for the Fire Toads.
Help! Tadpoles died first day we received them! July 27, 2008 We received this habitat in April, didn't get the tadpoles until the mid-July. The tadpoles didn't appear healthy at the time of arrival. They died within hours of putting them into their new habitat. Well, with that said, my child was obviously upset. So, I have been searching for a way to order more, but I can't seem to find where it is that I ordered these from. If anyone has the address or phone number, I would appreciate it so much if you could put it in your review. After waiting for so long for these to arrive, I must have misplaced the information. It doesn't seem to be in the booklet and the website is no help at all. I think this would have been a great idea if they would have lived. I figured, if we can get horned-worms and caterpillars to turn into moths and butterflies, this shouldn't be that difficult. Especially when there are so many people who gave other ideas on feeding and such, in their reviews. Thanks so much.
