 Serious flaw January 3, 2009
I have all of the Papo dinos-they are amazing in their detail and accuracy and I recommend them ALL-EXCEPT for the T-REX. This is a great dino replica, but T-REX never stood straight up, dragging it's tail on the ground. T-REX walked and ran with it's body parallel to the ground-the tail was a counterbalance to the front of the body. This error makes this Dino more of a toy than an accurate presentation of the animal and should definetly not be used in a classroom as a teaching aide. Hopefully, Papo will correct this in the future.
If you want an accurate T-REX, then one should get the Carnigie collection figure. The detail is good and the stance is dead bang accurate.
awsome for young dinosaur lovers December 30, 2008
So it was christmas time and believe it or not all my 5-year-old son wanted was a t-rex, he has a lot of other dinosaurs that we have picked up for 1 or 2 or 3 dollars but this was the king of them all. It is a beautifully detailed action figure and it is perfect for the young dinosaur lover.

I'm pleased to announce that I own this figure as T-Rex is my favorite dino out there. I have many T-Rex toys I left at home, including the original Jurassic Park one. In all my experiences with various T-Rex figurines, this one is the most detailed, but that's really about it.
What's a T-Rex without strength, right? His body is made of plastic rather than any stone so you can rough-house with him, but why would you want to? The thing I noticed, however, is his arms and ankles down are stretchable to some degree, rather than solid like the rest of him. I suppose Papo took into account those parts taking the most abuse, and it's nice they remembered that.
I'm sure it sounds like I really love this toy, and I do, so you may be wondering why I gave it such a low fun rating. Well it's simple, the only movement the toy can do is open it's mouth. No bendable legs or arms, no turning head, nothing. To anyone who knows this isn't supposed to be a working toy, like me, that won't matter, but to the average person looking for a working T-Rex toy to play around with, they're going to be disappointed. Suppose your child wanted an Iron-Man toy for Christmas, now would you go buy him a poster of Iron-Man or an action figure? Same rules apply. Kids don't want looks or sentimental value, they want fun. They want something that moves, roars, slashes, etc, and this Rex just doesn't cash that check.
Think of the Papo lines as highly museum quality statues, rather than toys, because that's really what this over grown lizard is, and it shines like no other. The paint job is grand. I spent many a minute turning him over looking for major dis-coloration flaws but to no avail. Oh sure, there's some tiny splotches of paint on the base of some of his teeth, but this is bound to happen. He also has great paint detail. Take his gums for instance, which instead of being painted pure pink was given a forest green in the wrinkles to add more depth, which it does. Then of course we have his detail, which is the bread and butter. Wrinkles cover his entire body perfectly, and none of it looks forced. You can see muscles bulging out of his legs and, even more so, his arms. Nice triceps, work out much? Open his mouth to reveal much more such as the top of his mouth and throat- his tongue even has wrinkles and, more shocking, is sand-papery rather than smooth like other toys.
There is one problem I have with the T-Rex though, and it's his stance. We already know T-Rex couldn't stand with his tail on the ground, so why is he pulling it off? The Papo Spino has his tail mid-air, so why couldn't they do the same for Mr. Rex? Possibly it's because T-Rex took this stance at the end of Jurassic Park, which makes sense because in that scene he had his mouth open as well, but this statue is painted in the colors of JP3 not JP1. It's a mystery indeed, and it hurts it's educational value. The figure is detailed enough to show kids what we think T-Rex looked like 10 fold, nostrils and all. But as far as stance goes, it's just wrong, like Jason without his famous mask and machete.
To wrap up this 'toy' isn't a toy, but something you MUST buy for your 12+ yr old who likes dinosaurs; and if he doesn't like T-Rex don't worry, as Papo made plenty of other Dinos to pick from. If you yourself have been looking for a quality Dinosaur figurine/statue to honor your home, stop searching friend because you've found him.

This is a fantabulous depiction of a realistic TRex!! You can't get 'em any better than the Papo toys, you really can't. I've been waiting to find a good, realistic TRex to display at my cubicle at work, or to just study and imagine what a real dino might look like - Papo dinos are the very, very best. These are sturdy, mature toys that will light up your imagination. This Rex is in the perfect pose, and is of the perfect dimensions. Easily the most accurate Tyrannosaurus available in toy form. I'm just crazy about these Papo dinosaurs - they're terrific!!
Worth Every Penny July 19, 2008
I saw this dinosaur while on a trip to Columbus, OH, and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. This is a fantastic, museum-quality "toy", if that's what you want to call it. The T-Rex is so good that I'm going to buy the Spinosaurus and Raptor next!
