Designed for ages four and older, this meticulously detailed replica of the Starship Enterprise. It is modeled after the NCC-1701 Enterprise -- the version of the Enterprise that appears in the 2009 Star Trek movie. Featuring glowing blue lights and sound clips from the movie, the replica comes with a display stand, allowing you to dock the starship on your desk or in your display cabinet. | U.S.S. This model of the Starship Enterprise makes a fine addition to any collector's cabinet. View larger. |
Based on the NCC-1701 Enterprise model, the replica comes with a sleek blue display stand. View larger. | Authentic Detail and Movie Sounds With this replica, the modelers at Playmates have accurately recreated the 2009 version of the Enterprise to the finest detail. Constructed completely from plastic, it measures a foot in length and is about six inches across. The primary "saucer" area has been sculpted to imitate the contoured surface of the original ship, and features painted windows and insignias. Atop the saucer is the Enterprise's bridge, which lights up with the push of a button. The ship's deflector and warp engine nacelles also light up and blink with a blue glow. Upon pressing the button, you'll also be treated to sound effects taken straight from the movie. You'll hear the engine roar and the Bussard collectors whirring. The replica even plays back real dialogue between Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto). Explore the Final Frontier -- From Your Office Desk The Enterprise comes with a unique, ice-blue display stand that will easily fit on a desk. It attaches to the replica using a ball bearing, allowing you to angle and position the ship as you please. It should be noted that this replica is based on the movie, and is not based on the classic NCC-1701 design from the original Star Trek series. The Enterprise was reinvented for the latest movie and features an updated, more modern look. The primary hull of the original ship has been "smoothed out" for a sleeker, streamlined shape. Still, this is the ideal model for any serious fan of the 2009 movie. What's in the Box USS Enterprise model and display stand.

Use Alkaline batteries!! February 24, 2010 J. Horton (Bloomington, IN USA) Just wanted to point out that this fella wants real alkaline 1.5 volt batteries! I tried some rechargables and didn't even get a fizzle out of it. I panicked and started looking up return information until I decided to yank some alkalines out of something else and try them. Fired up instantly with those! I wonder how many others have returned them because of the same thing? Don't these guys know that trekkers like to recharge batteries?
The quality seems far superior to my old Playmates Klingon Vor'cha and Romulan Warbird from ~15 years ago. It has details painted on instead of stickers that peel off after a couple years. I personally would have preferred the sound effects to be more of a starship nature than a talking nature, but it's okay. The lights blinking so much would give everyone onboard a seizure, but I'm sure the kids would love it. It isn't something I'd put in a display cabinet, but definitely office desk worthy. 4 stars this time :)
Gift for my 6 year old brother February 6, 2010 Florian Rainer (bowling green, OH USA) I bought the USS Enterprise iconic ship here at Amazon.com for my 6 year old brother's Christmas gift. My little brother plays very rough, crashing cars into walls and each other, and stuff like that. I wasn't sure if he'd like the toy. I was very surprise when he did. The definition is great on the toy, and the lighting up and sounds were great. My brother was so excited. And it's very durable. He hasn't broken it yet ha ha. A great purchase.
This is the perfect toy...if your 10. February 4, 2010 D. workman In my basement sits a box full of my old L/S ships from the glory days of Playmates Star Trek toy empire. When I ordered this latest Enterprise, I knew 2 things. Playmate's Star Trek toy making Mantra is "close is ok." and that playmates makes TOYS, no collectables. The Enterprise for Star Trek (2009) is no exception. This is not a buy for someone looking for shelf candy. This is a toy plain and simple. If your above the age of 12, wait. A model or Diamond Select version hopefully won't be far behind. However, if you have a child, this would be PERFECT. Its sturdy, durable, and anyone actually playing with the toy won't have time to notice the sloped "up" saucer section, and the fact the nacelles sit to far forward. There is literally more detail in the DVD case that came with the special edition release from Target than this Enterprise from playmates.
Very well made. February 3, 2010 Shahzad Mark (CA, USA) Very well detailed, good size sound and lights very orignal.
Overall very good value and displays well.
One little caution the screw that holds the
battery covers are extremely soft metal
head strips very easy. I used a good Snap On Srew driver and had to repalce the srews.
Other then this I am very happy with the purchase.
Iconic Enterprise February 1, 2010 Mack Falken (OH) The large version-- it's survivability beat the airport baggage managers, and its detail level is almost perfect. Excellent.
