Fun for All December 1, 2008 We gave this to our 2yr old son for his B'day. He absolutely loves it. While he hasn't yet mastered the pull back and let go action of some cars, he totally gets the shake and go technique. We thought we'd have to help him play this until he matured a little, but he's completely fine on his own. My husband, assisted by 8yr old niece, put this toy together easily. Once the action started, all the cousins (3-8) were screaming and jumping with delight. This toy was a big hit!
Crappy track November 24, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
We gave this to our three kids last year for Christmas, and what a waste of money. The track falls apart if you even just look at it funny. I give two stars because my boys love to 'shake 'n' go' the cars on the kitchen floor. The track is in a box in the basement, and this year they're getting Geotrax and Hot Wheels.
Way too frustrating November 20, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
We bought this race track for my then 5-year-old, Christmas 2007. It was terribly hard to put together. (I'm usually pretty good at putting stuff together!!!) My husband and his brother tried putting it together too--almost resulted in a fight as frustration levels increased. We have put it together maybe 3 times since and it is just as hard to assemble as the first time and falls apart as well. We have relegated it to the "Good Will Donation" pile. Less than a year later!!!! The cars that come with it are pretty cool though. The track is TERRIBLE though. I recommend just buying the cars instead of the whole system.
Tons of Fun for Boys and Girls November 17, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this for my 3-year old nephew and he just loves it. I have found that even the girls that come to visit enjoy playing with this set. The track was designed for two cars to race side-by-side with a starting point that allows for the cars to begin to race at the same time with the press of a lever. The starting point is a section of the track that contains a plastic pop-up piece that when the pop-up is up, it keeps the cars in place until the release button is pushed. It is so simple to use, just shake the cars for about 5 seconds, put them on top of the pop-up and press the button. The cars go racing off, going up ramps and jumping off ramps, racing around the track until there is either a crash or the cars stop. When the cars do crash, the hood and doors of the car open and they make a loud crashing sound. I have found myself enjoying this toy set too!
This product has to be fully assembled and the assembly can be frustrating and time consuming. The upper and lower track pieces all need to be screwed together so that the tracks can fit together in the end just by snapping each track piece in place. The assembly took me about an hour. I would strongly suggest to everyone to the directions thoroughly once before beginning the assembly, just to familiarize your self with what is ahead. Try to organize the pieces in order of assembly so you are not scrambling to find the pieces during the process. Each piece is numbered underneath to help you identify and pair up matching pieces as well as the order the track pieces need to be snapped together once assembly is completed. If in the end, your track set does not securely stay together or the pieces of track won't snap together correctly, you can be sure that you assembled it incorrectly and that it is not a defective or dysfunctional product. Just go back over the instructions to evaluate where it is you went wrong and correct it. I think this toy was well worth the effort I put into to the assembly process and I would highly recommend it to anyone!
Great and Fun, but breaks apart too easy October 7, 2008 My son (2.5) and I love this. Assembly was not too bad, but like others say use a hard surface. The cars at full battery will go around about 3 times if shaken to the max (the car revs up to let you know). Most of the time they run the track clean without problems.
My only complaint is how easily the track comes apart. I understand at 2 years old my kid is bound to break it apart, but I am just talking about moving it. Even a little shift can cause the secions to break apart. This also makes it hard to move so I would suggest not to put it on the floor without anything under it if it needs to be moved around.
The sections you screw together are very sturdy.
